I initially bought their older unit (this one had not come out yet) to record chorus rehearsals. When it just didn't work out as I had hoped, Nolan sent me one of these while still in beta testing. IT WORKS GREAT! Not only is the sound terrific, there are two mike types to chose from depending on the situation. If that isn't enough, you can plug in your own mike. The gain controls give you the extra control you need to get the sound just right. (Tip - Click the gain down ~10 times, then click up from there and test on each setting to get the sweet spot. When you are ready to use it after that, just click down to the bottom and up to the sweet spot.)I've only run into two issues with the unit (and they are easily resolved) - 1) Pairing it can be problematic. This isn't a fault, it is because there are two pairing methods depending on your need. Pick the right one and it works fine. 2) There are some recording apps that will tell you that they are using the mike via...
Astonishingly small! (I'd envisioned something about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but you could fit three of these in a standard cigarette pack.) I bought this mic for use at a meeting where some attendees attend only via Skype. Those in the room pass the mic to the person currently speaking. We get better sound by exploiting a feature of the Nolan that I hadn't noticed when I bought it. Beside its built-in mic, there's a 3.5 mm port to which you can plug an alternative microphone. Plugging the external mic cuts out the Nolan's built-in, and replaces it by the signal from the one you've plugged in. We got distinctly better sound by connecting a cheap left-over external mic that had been intended for an old Macintosh, from the days...
