Initially signed on with ADT. Their "free" system was useless for my house and I later changed to Safemart. Their hardware prices are about half of ADT's, and you'll need more hardware than you get with ADT's "free" system. No Smoke Alarm with them. Monthly monitor fee was $47/Mo with ADT, $19.95 with Safemart. I had a problem with weak cell phone signal, and Safemart promptly sent me a new system that works off a different network for FREE. Overall, very satisfied with them, so far. I had to say that because "you never know......" |

I had intended to buy this for my daughter's home. After reading all the good reviews, I took the plunge.On closer examination, I soon realized that without the monitoring service from SafeMart, the unit is just a $450 doorstop. There is no Ethernet port nor any other means for me to monitor myself remotely if I opt out of SafeMart. So I am paying $450 for the hardware only to pay $30 per month for the service. Moreover, the unit does not have a way to trigger a laud alarm just like a car alarm to scare off the intruders, with or without the monitoring service.While this is a decent system, it does not meet my expectations at the asking price. I returned it today. |

SafeSmart's staff, from system consultants to installers to follow-up personnel, is simply first class. They did not try to sell me more than I needed. The system, based on the GE Simon, is both wireless in the home and cellular for system monitoring, which is pretty much state of the art. Not only do you avoid being captive to an installer for any hard-wired changes, but if I ever move, I can take the entire system with me. Installation was easy with everything not only pre-programmed into the system, but each component (door/window opening, smoke detector, glass break, etc.) was already labelled on the outside of each component box so it was pretty much idiot-proof on the install. I like that the system can be armed/unarmed remotely by phone and will text me of any "incidents". They applied the appropriate discounts to stay competitive, so all-in-all, I'm very happy with their business model (from people to service to technology to monitoring) and I have no hesitation in... |
