Description
Meet Sphero - The world’s first robotic ball you control with a tilt, tap, or touch on your smartphone. Sphero comes ready and eager to play. Weave in and around obstacles or feet, or just try to outrun the family pet. Test your skills in Sphero Drive, challenge friends to Golf, video your cat chasing Sphero with KittyCam, and more. Your experience changes with every new game app you download, and with single or multi-player games Sphero will always surprise you.
Sphero is a lot of fun. I just purchased a second one for the family because my kids were fighting over the first. Yep, I know, we spoil 'em. It comes charged and is easy to get going out of the box -just downloaded the apps from iTunes and start playing. It's pretty freaky to drive a ball (versus things you've driven before like a car or helicopter) so it does take a bit of getting used to, but after a few minutes you'll get the hang of it. I was surprised by how many different games there are now. They have more games since I purchased the first one. Two of the new games we like are Exile (kinda like a modern day space invaders) and Color Grab (a fun multi-player game the kids like).Pros: Driving and racing it around is great, it has lots of games, its easy to connect, your smartphone or ipods are the controller, has a long charge and it's well madeCons: It's ain't cheap at $129 and it takes some time to get the hang of driving at first
I bought this as a birthday gift for a friend whose is a gadget freak and programmer. Comes with apps plus he can write his own macros if he likes. He loves it!
I bought my Sphero straight from Orbotix at launch. I had it for a year and a half and loved it. Then one day it just stopped working and I was sad. I went on the Orbotix website and tried all of their troubleshooting tips, to no avail. As a last resort I contacted customer support. I knew it was well out of warranty but hoped they knew a trick I hadn't tried, or at the very least could fix it at a cost to me. Once I explained my issue and told them how old it was, they issued me an RMA number and had me ship it to them to see if they could repair it. I received an email the same day that they received my Sphero. I was told that it was unrepairable and that it had gone to Sphero heaven. Again, I was sad. But then the very next line of the email put a smile on my face and restored my hope in humanity and good customer service. I was told that they were rush shipping me a replacement Sphero, that I would have it on my doorstep within 2 days, and that it was at no cost to me. Now that's...
