This is a review of the Livescribe 3 Smartpen Pro Edition and Livescribe+ app. for iOSI am a college student recording and taking notes on several hours of lectures per day. I am working with an iPhone 4sThe leather portfolio is nothing special but it is functional and looks nice enough.I have been using the smart pen for about 3 weeks and have had some good results. First, I would like to point out that overall, the pen works as advertised. It is a little large but not awkward to write with. The Livescribet+ app also works well. Previous issues have been resolved. So far, I have been able to take several pages of notes. These notes are seamlessly syncing to the Livescribe+ app. If the app is not running while I take notes the data is still stored on the pen, which has 2 GB of storage, and syncs the next time the app and pen are paired. The OCR work well also. I estimate that 85% - 95% of my handwriting is accurately converted into text with... |

Ok. here is some background. I have owned every one of these pens since they initially came out in BETA.My thoughts on the Livescribe 3The Good- Does it work as advertised? Yes without question.- Is it the best easiest to use Livescribe product yet? Without question so long as you have a supported iPhone. I do. They say Android support is coming for all the right reasons so be patient. Its Googles fault not theirs.- Will the OCR capabilities blow your mind? Without a doubt. Converting your scribble to text is as easy as 1,2,3.The Bad- The nib makes a funny clicking sound when you write. My feeling is that when you are selling a pen that costs $150 bucks your target demographic expects the quality to be better.- Evernote Integration could be better. I live in Evernote. Its just where I take notes for all the reasons Evernote is a successful company. When your notes arrive in Evernote they do... |

I was going to walkway from LiveScribe this year. I have been a long term user. I had the Pulse, Echo, and the horrible pen called the Sky.The Sky broke my spirit for this company. The product was an excellent idea, but since it's inception there have been minimal improvements to make the ecosystem work between Evernote and the Pen. I could have worked with the right improvements. QUICKLY, but it didn't. I was so frustrated at the lack of OCR, and Pencasts that I had been used to for years I nearly threw the sky out of the window. Low and behold the reason the sky wasn't improved upon is because they had this up their sleeves.I have only used the pen for one day and I will update this review as things progress, but my initial reactions from using this L3 is they finally got one step closer to making the perfect product. This pen feels more solid, writes smoother, works leaps and bounds better than the Sky, and best of all, OCR and Pencasts are... |
