This student/teacher edition is identical to the commercial package - Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection, so if you're looking for an evaluation of its functionality, you might as well look there. What *is* different, however, is the buying process for the education version. You will not be able to use this software past its trial period if you don't have a valid serial number to activate it. Getting a serial number used to be a trivial process - Adobe and Macromedia packages had the serial number printed on a sticker included in the box (or, for some releases, written on the disk itself). You simply typed that number in during the install process, and a valid number could be used on multiple installs. Adobe has gotten wise, however. To get a valid serial number for this package, I had to go to the... |

The school version of CS5 requires proof of employment at a school. I'm ok with that. After providing my school issued faculty/staff ID during the initial registration process, a few days later I received a notice by email that the "current" employment status wasn't clear on the id card. Fortunately, I checked my spam filter becasue I was anticipating the reply might not go directly to my inbox and I was correct. It is possible someone may not get a clarification request due normal delivery processes.Regarding alternative methods of verification, I hesitate to send a copy of my pay stub to anyone. The Drivers License request isn't much better but I did it anyway. I also submitted a letter from our HR department so hopefully this will suffice. The problem I have is that the the 30 day activate-it or loose-it policy seems amost like a gotcha clause; it almost seems like there is intent to defraud with such a tight response timeline... particularly... |

Hello, I'm a homeschooler learning Web Development and when I purchased this I wasn't sure I would qualify. Registration was a piece of cake. All they needed for "proof" was a scan of my photo ID and a copy of our HSLDA membership card. So, for you fellow homeschoolers out there, you too can take advantage of this discount. I took away a star because I've used free programs (Paint.net / Gimp / NotePad++ / Filezilla) rather than PS, DW or CT for the last 3 years. I was expecting PS to be a lot better than Gimp and Paint.net but I'm still using Paint.net in conjunction with PS because PS can't do everything I can do with Paint.net. I'm still using NotePad++ because I really don't like DW as it does about the same things as NotePad++ only much slower. Really, put simply, adobe is overrated and overpriced. It saddens me that they can sit there and tell me that they are for innovation and creativity while they make closed source, overpriced, programs that aren't very... |
