I had intended to buy this for my daughter's home. After reading all the good reviews, I took the plunge.On closer examination, I soon realized that without the monitoring service from SafeMart, the unit is just a $450 doorstop. There is no Ethernet port nor any other means for me to monitor myself remotely if I opt out of SafeMart. So I am paying $450 for the hardware only to pay $30 per month for the service. Moreover, the unit does not have a way to trigger a laud alarm just like a car alarm to scare off the intruders, with or without the monitoring service.While this is a decent system, it does not meet my expectations at the asking price. I returned it today. |

After several break-ins in our neighborhood, my husband and I decided to get a security system. We asked people we knew who had systems what they liked and didn't like about their systems and the conclusion we came to is that once their alarms were installed, one system did not distinguish itself over another. It came down to affordability of components, company or self-installation, wireless or landline, and length and cost of the monitoring contract. Using this information we investigated companies on-line and read the reviews and comparisons. We also had a small local privately owned company come out and give us a quote for everything we wanted. We checked their references and while their customers were happy with them, their prices were double the cost of Safemart and the minimum contract was FIVE YEARS!!! I installed this security system in my home. It is easy to install and works OK. You can do your self and cost less to monitor your home by Safemart. |
